In reality, it is the poor combustion that pollutes, not the wood itself. When used correctly, with the right appliance and dry wood, wood heating is one of the most environmentally friendly forms of heating. the most energy-efficient, sustainable and climate-friendly systems.

However, in recent years, a different discourse has emerged. That of the all-electric, This shift is not neutral: it responds to powerful economic interests. The major energy and industry groups see in this dependence on electricity an endless market: that of a fully connected population, dependent on the network, tariffs and energy policies.

We hear about «zero-emission» electric cars, «virtuous» heat pumps and «wood-free» cities. However, behind these slogans, the reality is more complex: the manufacture of batteries, the extraction of rare metals, the production of electricity and programmed obsolescence have a considerable environmental cost, which is often moved far from our borders. This model claims to be clean, but it simply displaces pollution - it doesn't eliminate it.

Conversely, the wood energy is based on a cycle short, local and manageable. It does not depend on a national network or on minerals from elsewhere. It is harvested, transformed and used here, in our forests, our communities and our regions. Wood is not an industrial product: it's a living resource, part of the ecological and social balance of our countryside. It's also one of the few sources of energy that still allows households and craftsmen to stay in business. autonomous and managers.

The European Union, under pressure from certain lobbies, regularly raises the possibility of restricting or banning wood heating in the coming decades, in the name of a centralised and standardised energy transition. Such a decision would fly in the face of common sense, the reality on the ground and the expertise of thousands of craftsmen who, every day, work to make this energy cleaner, safer and more efficient.

Defending wood heating is not about opposing progress. true ecology can't be decreed in the office, but is built on the ground, with common sense, moderation and respect. It means choosing an energy human, local and manageable, A company that is not dependent on lobbies or global markets, but on competence, rigour and a job well done.

A clear flame: the sign of complete, clean combustion

In the face of these disconnected discourses, every day I choose the field, the flame, the material. Because beyond the expert debates, the truth of an energy can be read in its combustion. The wood, When it burns correctly, it speaks the language of common sense: that of a fire that heats without smothering, enlightens without smoking, and lasts without destroying.

A quality fire can be recognised by its flame: clear, bright and regular. It reflects a complete combustion, where the air and wood are in natural balance. This is a sign that the flue is working well, that the draught is stable and that the installation is working in harmony with its environment. Conversely, a dark, slow or irregular flame is a sign that the chimney is not working properly. draught anomaly, a wood too damp or a incorrect air setting. In these cases, combustion becomes incomplete: it consumes more, heats less and clogs up the flue.

My role as’COSTIC-certified craftsman, is to help everyone to understand and interpret these signs. The draught, the quality of the flame, the colour of the deposits, the noises in the flue: all these tell us something about the state of the installation. My job is to observe, explain and correct what the flame reveals. It's an approach that's both technical and educational To teach homeowners how to maintain their appliances, recognise good combustion and prevent problems before they arise.

Every fire is a living balance between air, fuel and flue. When these three elements are properly adjusted, wood heating becomes a real pleasure. safe, clean and sustainable pleasure. That's what I strive to achieve with every job: heating that warms the home without harming the air we breathe.

Performance, safety and consistency of the installation

Efficient wood heating is based on a balance between three elements:

A suitable device the configuration of the home and actual needs;

A compliant flue standards DTU 24.1 and 24.2, well sized and maintained;

A dry, quality wood, which guarantees complete combustion and good efficiency.

When these conditions are met, wood heating becomes a truly clean, local and sustainable energy source. It's this consistency that I strive to ensure in every intervention, whether it's a sweeping, a diagnostic or a duct creation.

Supporting every customer in their responsible use

My work is not limited to sweeping: it also involves inform and advise my customers to get the most out of their appliance. Regular maintenance, the choice of fuel, compliance with air flow rates and safety distances are all essential points that I take the time to explain, so that you can get the most out of your appliance. safe and efficient heating.

This educational approach is an integral part of my job: it promotes the use of wood as a sustainable energy source and shows that performance is never at odds with responsibility.

Contact and personalised advice

If you have any questions about your wood-burning installation, its maintenance or compliance, contact me via the form or to 06 07 85 30 83.
